Mr.Knight was employed as a Shipfitter in October 1981 at the Charleston Naval Shipyard and was a WG-10 5th step Master Shipbuilder until April 1987 & then taught for a nuclear-submarine construction project at the General Dynamics Electric Boat Division, Bushy Park Facility 1987-88.
Lockheed Shipbuilding of Thunderbolt, Georgia hired Mr. Knight as a Craft Technician and soon promoted him to Project Quality Control Officer. Lockheed was building LSU watercraft for the United States Navy. 1988-89
Intermarine USA, an Italian Global Mega-Yacht builder, employed Mr. Knight from 1989 to 1991 in their prototype construction of the Osprey Project. It was a partnership between Intermarine and the US Navy. The glass reinforced mine hunters were state of the art crafts 210 feet in length. Mr. Knight worked directly under Mr. Mario Vidulich in ‘jigs and fixtures’ also known as ‘marine tooling and fabrication processes’.
For several years, Mr Knight was a State License Private Investigator and served as the Operations Manager for an agency called NIS or National Investigator’s Services. That License expired and Mr. Knight did not continue as an investigator. The firm dissolved.
Mr. Knight has worked on occasion for Parsons-Brinkerhoff, a International Engineering firm as a subcontractor FEMA Disaster Inspector. That License No. is 10218.
Mr. Knight continued use of and kept current all of his professional construction related licenses during these times that industry was locally suffering from the Naval Base Closure at Charleston, SC.
Some of the local construction projects for which Mr. Knight has working experiences are the Cario Middle School, The South Carolina Aquarium and the North Charleston Performing Arts Center Constructions; and others.
Marine Crafts, LLC was a firm opened by Mr. Knight in 1992 to import Italian built recreational watercraft (Rio) into the United States. The firm was also a Yacht Brokerage. Mr. Knight is a member in good standing still with YABA – Yacht Architect and Brokers Association. That organization was founded in 1921. He is still a member in good standing.
In so far as Mr. Knight has spent his life accumulating many life skills to create Construction Group, LLC; he has also found time to spend the last four years as an elected Trustee to the Charleston County School Board of Trustees, District 4 Area 1 and a Commissioner of the Cooper River Parks and Playground District.
These summaries of Mr. Knight’s professional contributions are now focused upon Construction Group, LLC success, growth and expansion into the federal opportunity market place and hold one industrial maintenance facility contract for a wide range of services and are multi-disciplined. Eg: motor conveyor installations and preventive maintenance programs; architectural concrete; steel fabrications; temporary buildings; construction management; heating and air conditioning; electrical; Overhead and Underground Utilities; and plumbing as well as many other ships integrated systems relative to commercial, industrial and institutional construction and facilities engineering and maintenance programs.
